The Book of the Dead
The purpose was to help the King find there way to the gods after they died. The book was written on walls of the tomb. The book became popular in ancient Egypt as a way for everybody to live a rich life after death. The Book of the Dead evolved over time, spells were added to it through out centuries. The Book of the dead is actually made up of more then one book, but was put together in one book of 189 chapters.
It was written by scribes, on papyrus. (Paper from a kind of plant that grew by the Nile River.) The work is created to many different scribes. It was first discovered in the middle ages, and the first modern copy was produced in 1805. Since its discovery it has been used to clues about the Egyptian Culture.
