How Ancient Egypt was Ruled
Ancient Egypt was the first civilization to rule an entire nation. They created laws, so that the Ancient Egypt stayed in order. No person was raised above the law. If the Pharaoh created laws, everyone obeyed because the Pharaoh was considered to be a god. The Pharaoh supervised irrigation, and controlled where people lived. In Ancient Egypt the word of the Pharaoh was law. Writing on the walls of the Pyramid of Unas said as much as:
Behold, the king is at the head of the gods.... The gods do obeisance when meeting the king just as the gods do obeisance when meeting the rising of Ra when he ascends from the horizon.
With a large population, disputes sometimes broke out. That's where the laws came in and helped settle the disputes. The social order which said who had power over who ensured a stable life that would be good for everyone.

How Ancient Egypt was Organized
The Pharaoh was at the top of the Social Order, after them was the Nobles and Military Leaders, then the Priests and Scribes, next the Craftspeople and Merchants, then the peasant farmers and finally the slaves. They had to have the Social Order to keep Ancient Egypt in order. If they didn't Ancient Egypt would break out in disputes because of their large population. Nobody owned anything except for the Pharaoh because he is the top of the Social Order, people treated him like a living god on Earth. The peasant farmers weren't treated well, except for the food they farmed, without the peasant farmers Ancient Egypt wouldn't survive. They aren't the bottom of the Social order, the slaves are. The slaves work for the Pharaoh and his people.
